Our story

It all started with a dream to make a difference in my family’s life and show others we can help in unique ways. From my time as a baby at SickKids Hospital to my son’s recent care there, I’ve seen how compassion changes lives. That’s why I founded the Muir Fund—a $1B CAD commitment to transform Orillia and Severn into a green, forward-looking city, using 100% local labor.

We’re investing $400M to help 17,000+ patients yearly through SickKids Foundation, Mariposa House Hospice, and Orillia Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital (OSMH). A $200M 100MW solar farm —pitched to Prime Minister Mark Carney for federal support—will power 15,000 homes, create 220 jobs, and cut 90,000 tons of CO2 yearly. With $400M, we’re revitalizing downtown Orillia, starting with the Tudhope Building (50 Andrew Street South) as a Muir Fund Business Hub open to all.

The Muir Fund is about helping everyone—families, patients, workers, and dreamers—while creating 600+ jobs and $50M-$100M in tourism revenue. Join us at muirfund.com to support our vision, sign our petition. Together, let’s make Orillia a beacon of green opportunity.

Charity

Targeting 17,000+ patients annually through these specific pillars is a massive undertaking.

  • SickKids & OSMH: With this level of funding, you aren't just donating; you are likely funding entire wings or specific advanced technology (like the MRI and pediatric respiratory equipment mentioned in your goals).

  • Mariposa House Hospice: Transitioning to solar and expanding bed capacity (from 6 to 10+) will significantly reduce the waitlist for palliative care in North Simcoe.
